McDONALD'S TOYS & COLLECTABLES
RELEASED IN NEW ZEALAND

This is not a list of what I have in stock at any time.  Rather, it's a catalogue of all significant items released in New Zealand.  While I have 95+ percent of items released here I don't always have stocks of (a) rare, early items; (b) extremely popular toys such as Snoopy's World Tour; or (c) the very latest sets.  (I'm currently finding it very difficult to keep up with demand from foreign collectors for the 1999 sets, for example.)

COMPOSITION OF SETS:  Where the description in the list is simply "four items" this means that there is a Birdie, Grimace, Hamburglar and Ronald in the set.  Unless stated otherwise, prices for sets are the prices for single items multiplied by the number of items in the set.

DATES ETC:  Toys and collectables are listed in order of their release in New Zealand, but some of the dates of release are my best guess.  If local collectors have more accurate information, it would be appreciated if they would let me have it.  I'd also be grateful for advice of any amendments or additions to the list.

CONDITION:  The assumption made throughout is that toys are in good condition.  Worn, damaged or dirty McDonald's toys have no value. PRICES: are expressed in US dollars.

MAIL ORDERS: postage is charged at cost.  Foreign orders are sent by economy air.

Note: MIP = Mint in Packet

Character straws:
click here for larger photo, then click back on your browser to return here. This scarce set is a bit of a mystery.  I'd been told that it comprised eight items - Birdie (pink and yellow straws); Ronald (red and green straws); Hamburglar (pink and yellow straws); and Grimace (red and green straws) - which I can confirm only if "green" is held to mean "any shade of green".  What I mean by this is that I've found Grimace straws in three different shades of green (light, dark and blue-green) and Ronald in two (light and blue-green).  The practical effect is that I've found a single exact duplicate so far in eleven straws!  Please note that this is not the same set as that released (as "McDonaldland Straws") in Australia in 1993.  That set featured Ronald, Birdie, Grimace and Hamburglar in full colour, with each item comprising two pieces: the character which slips on to differently-coloured and -shaped straw.  The New Zealand set comprises a single, moulded straw in pastel colours.  The Australian set is much sexier.
US$3.50 each

Jigsaws:

Rectangular Bead Games:
click here for larger photo, then click back on your browser to return here.I have now identified eleven of these miniature pinball  games, apparently released by McDonald's Australia in several groups in the early 1990s and used both there and here in New Zealand as fillers for birthday bags. The most common games are a pink Hamburglar, a purple Grimace and a yellow Ronald, all dated 1995 (but released MIP in bags dated 1994!).  US$1 each

Round Bead Games:

Tenth Anniversary Happy Meal Train:
click here for larger photo, then click back on your browser to return here.Thirteen connectable figures (there were additional two toys in the original US set: see below) - Ronald in a red Happy Meal box (the engine); Barbie ballerina (spins around); Hot Wheels (car spins around loop); Sonic the Hedgehog on TV; Berenstain Bears on a seesaw; Tonka truck with a red parcel on board (three pieces); 101 Dalmatians in a parcel; Little Mermaid & Flounder; Cabbage Patch Doll on a rocking horse; Tiny Toons (Bates & Buster) with birthday cake; Peanuts (Snoopy playing an organ); Happy Meal Guys on a tray; and ET in a spaceship.  The two additional toys released in the US were Looney Tunes (featuring Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck) and Muppet Babies.  An important point to note is that the Looney Tunes toy was also released in the UK, as part of a four-toy set called Looney Tunes Parade, in 1996.  There's a big difference in the colour of Bugs and Daffy's vehicle, however: the original is green; the UK toy is grey.

The others - US$1 each, US$2 MIP

Tricky Trackers:
